The Law of Attraction Lifestyle

The Law of Attraction Lifestyle - Attract anything into your Life

Let me set the scene for you. It’s about twenty-one degrees, a clear sunny day; possibly one of the most spectacular that Mother Nature has breathed life into, and a light breeze is blowing. It’s 11am. I have a café latte in hand from a great coffee shop, and I have eased myself into the morning with a sleep in, a cup of tea, followed by tending to our magnificent horses. This is pretty much a typical day for me. I don’t have a ‘job’ per say and with the exception of a couple obligations, I pretty much do what I want, when I want. Do I want for more? Yes. Do I have more goals and aspirations? Yes. Do I need it? No. I have a roof, food, a warm bed, and everything else is pretty much my heart’s desire. As I settle in to write this chapter on the Law of Attraction, I take a look back at my life to try and understand how I got here. I wasn’t born into money. In fact we were what a lot of people would call poor. We lived basically week-to-week, not that I had much understanding of that as a child. I just knew that when mum opened her wallet to prove she didn’t have the five dollars I wanted for something or other, she meant it. That said, we didn’t need anything; we were fed, clothed and had a roof over our heads. Though from age eight to eleven, living in a small caravan with two adults and two kids was not cool! We were educated and we had a cat. When I was twelve I got my first horse by convincing my parents it was going to cost less than fifteen dollars per week (sorry mum and dad). By fourteen I could no longer hide my rebellious streak and at fifteen, I moved out of home with my then boyfriend. By sixteen, I had landed myself a traineeship at a real estate office. Unbeknownst to me this would basically carve out my future. Over the next seven years I led essentially a double life: professional by day and one half of an extremely unhealthy relationship by night. By twenty-two years old I was drained of any remaining self-esteem, as well as my bank accounts. Thirty thousand dollars in debt, with six credit cards, I moved back home. By now you are probably wondering what on earth my story is doing featured in a book on manifesting, because no one wants to manifest that!

I wanted to share the background with you, so you know that no matter where you came from, changing your life is possible. You can attract amazing things into your life and you can achieve greatness. It took me a long time to realise that it doesn’t matter where you came from, what you were told as a child, or where you are in your life right now. All that matters is how much you want it and how much you believe you can get it. That is the common denominator in all of the Law of Attraction stories that you hear.

When Jim Carrey wrote himself a cheque for millions of dollars when he was broke, he knew he wanted to be a hugely successful actor. When Edison failed his 1000th invention, he knew he was one step closer to success, and when Katie Holmes had posters on her wall of Tom Cruise, she knew she wanted to marry him.
We hear the celebrity Law of Attraction stories because, well, they’re celebrities. There are millions of success stories around the globe and you could be one of them! I didn’t know what the Law of Attraction was until about twelve months ago. Up until then I was just ‘winging it’. From the time I was a child I knew that I was going to be rich and successful, or a combination of the two. This was a continuous thought through everything and to this day it always remains my mindset. Even when I had to eat onion sandwiches for dinner because I had no food, I knew that things would change. Looking back even further, when I was competing on my horse, I would humbly say out loud, “Oh I won’t win”, but secretly I could see my horse with that blue ribbon around his neck. I guess this was my first exposure to the Law of Attraction. 2001 was the first year I actually wrote down my goals. The biggest one was to buy a house, which I did, thirty thousand dollars in debt. Over the next ten years I achieved some pretty awesome things. I invested in more property and purchased the real estate agency that I worked for, becoming one of the youngest licensee/principals in Australia. I continued my study with horses, which in turn led me to the loving, healthy, happy, fun relationship I am in now. I bought my dream car, and sold the real estate office for a record-breaking price. I moved to what I call ‘paradise on earth’, and my first book was published; the list goes on. I will be the first to admit that there were some bumps and challenges along the way. It’s not all a drive on easy street. All this I achieved without even knowing what the Law of Attraction was. I just wrote down the goals and kept a mental picture in my mind.
Late in 2010 I decided that I wanted 2011 to be an awesome year across many facets of my life. After making that decision, I was in a bookstore for the signing and promotion of my book, and I purchased a book called ‘The Power of Influence’ by Sarah Prout. I read it, loved it and logged onto her website. I don’t really know why, but I did. On there, I found that there was an opportunity to join an online course called Adventures in Manifesting. With less than 24 hours before the close of the course, I hit the ‘Buy Now’ button (little did I know there would be a free revision of the course months later!). To this day I can’t explain why, I didn’t really even know what the course was about, but something drew me to it. The sixteen-week course is now at a close, but the achievements made by participants were grand. For me learning about the Law of Attraction philosophies has opened up an entire realm of new possibilities. 2011 is shaping up to be awesome! I have two more books due out this year, and I have made a dramatic shift onto a new career path, a career that I have wanted since I was a teenager.

For me the Law of Attraction is a lifestyle. It is not something you do for an hour a day. Rather it is an attitude you have all day, every day. For some readers it may seem that it is all about material things, however it is so much more than that. I am calmer, more centered, focused and engaged in the now than I have been in a long, long time. Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t discover this a lot sooner, maybe life would have been a little easier. Perhaps I wasn’t ready. Maybe if it had come sooner, in my infinite wisdom, I may have thought it was a load of hogwash. You may be wondering now, where do I start? Well, you start at the beginning. The first step is, believing you can. The second step, knowing what it is that you want in your life and the third step, writing it down. No matter how far-fetched it may seem, write it down. The more specific you can be the better. For example, instead of ‘I want to write a book’, write down ‘I want to write, and have published, a children’s book that helps kids improve their self-esteem’. Instead of ‘I want a bigger house’, write down ‘I want a house with five bedrooms so each of our kids can have their own room, and our friends and family can come to stay’. The best and simplest Law of Attraction example I have heard is about cars. When you decide to buy a new car, or you go and buy one and you know the make and model, you start seeing them everywhere. This is your subconscious mind bringing to the attention of your conscious mind what you want. It’s yelling at you, ‘Look! That’s what you want! Look, there is another one!’ Tell your mind what you want, and it will bring to your attention the opportunities you need to get it. When I first started the Adventures in Manifesting course, I wanted more exposure for my book and myself. Now I have been a guest blogger on two different websites, have two permanent guest spots on other websites, and I am featured in this book with not only some of my idols but some of the most recognizable people in the world! Wow! If that isn’t exposure, I don’t know what is. I truly believe that if you are reading this book, you have attracted it into your life somehow, because you are ready. Or if you are already an avid Law of Attraction believer, maybe one of the authors will resonate with you. I hope you do with the opportunity what is possible.
