Review on Play for Win - Clinton Swaine

Today I attended the three day free training course  "Play for Win" by Clinton Swaine in Melbourne.

Ratings :  *****

It’s a different type of a course.  It’s a training based on games. I was exposed to similar experimental games during my MBA days between 1997 -1999 and it was the most popular class we had in our time. So this is not something new but the games we played were phenomenal. The issue is that i have not found anyone offering this. Most trainers just give sermons.
We were around 25 people so it was very intimate and we could get personal attention.  Here are some of the Positives and Negatives.
Positives: Some great leanings in Day 1.
1.       Stage time is Money: Great communicators have the below in their speech.
·         Brevity
·         Clarity
·         Value
2.       If you want anything, you should ask 6 times for exactly what you want. There was a great game on this. Rejection is never personal.
3.       Feedback is the breakfast of the champions. You need to go to the coach to get feedback instead of the coach coming to you. Aggressively seek feedback.
4.       Value yourself.
5.       Clinton is a great communicator and very patient.
6.       Games which were great
a.       The Change game.
b.      Time to Market.
 Negatives:
·         Courses are very expensive. He is a one man show, and a life time member cost is 20K.
·         Not so great game: Pay to Play.
Positives: Some great leanings in Day 2.
·         Massive learnings from the game Lords of Plantasia.
o   Deligate work
o   Give clear instructions to your employees. Make them feel valuable else they will leave you.
o   Be coachable. Ask for guidance.
·         Another great game. Value @ the core.
Overall the best free course i attended. Highly Recommended..
